Art For Ebonyi
Last month I created this series of paintings in response to an obscure ancient tradition from the Ndegu Okpuitomo community in Ebonyi state, Nigeria.
In this region young girls are subjected to marrying and having children for dead men in a bid to continue their bloodlines after sudden death due to communal war. In reality these young women are ultimately forced into prostitution under the guise of tradition.
If you would like to support or donate @kachemyounginitiative is a non-governmental organisation that are committed to helping these women by providing them with a safe haven, access to quality education, and opportunities for economic empowerment.
Sales of these paintings will be donated to Katchem Young Initiative in support of the women of Ebonyi State Nigeria.
