I don’t like ombre!

I created these A4 water colour sketches yesterday, and I looked at some Albert and Antoinette Lubaki paintings for light inspiration. Aside from the paintings being too stiff, I realised that I also didn’t like the ombre effect, which you can see in the leaves of the trees, as well as in other parts of the painting. I’m realising that i much prefer solid colours with deep saturation, these colours however are too diluted, and wishy washy for my liking.

Some of the things that I do like about the paintings are the way I depicted the birds, as well as the green ribbon framing the painting on the right. If their colours were solid ans saturated I would have liked them even more.
