Otik’s Painting
In an attempt to learn more about loosening up my style I observed my 6 year old painting: I asked him to draw a crocodile, palm tree, and a pond, trough observing him I learnt that I have to relinquish ‘realistic’ concepts of size and scale in order to create loose art. For instance the crocodile is the. same size as the tree as well as the pond, I also noted that he filled the entire page, where as I tend to draw things small and in the centre. I also like that he used odd colours, such as yellow bark, which I feelt further adds to the loosness of the image. He also made quick intuitive marks, and little to no slow and sketchy marks.
