Oil Paintings @ School
I created these oil paintings one morning at my school studio, I really like the quality of the oil paints at my school, but I’ve not been able to find the brand that makes them anywhere. I liked the composition in the ‘black cat’ painting above, although if I could change one thing it would be the way that I depicted the cats face, as I feel it looks too cute, and more like a house cat, and less like a wild which is what I was going for.
I made these oil paintings using my fingers, and like the colours that I used as well as the composition of the painting.
This was the second oil painting that I made that morning, I didn’t like the colours that I used as much as I liked the first painting. However I did like the grainy swirly effect I created on the background. I did this by using my fingers to blend the oil paint down to its thinnest layer, and the swirls are simply remenent prints from where I originaly placed the oil painting onto the paper.
The grainy backround reminds me of the static (random dot pixels) you find on TV’s. I love that this digital looking effect is a result of such an analog painting technique.
Three oil paintings that I previously made with my fingers that also have interesting background textures.
